City High School is one of the feeder institutions maintained by the University. The School was started in 1889 in an old building by an advocate Maulana Bahadur Ali and his associates who were inspired by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and his educational movement. The School aimed at providing modern education in mother tongue. Passing through different stages and changing its places, the School ultimately was established in its present building in 1928. Maulana Tufail Ahmad Manglori, who was a renowned social reformer and a distinguished member of Sir Syed’s Aligarh Movement, took over the charge of the School as Manager in 1918. Under his able supervision the School gradually flourished and made progress. He is considered as one of the founders of City High School. Sahabzada Aftab Ahmad, Maulvi Samiullah Khan, Maulvi Abdul Khalique, Deputy Habibullah Khan, Abdul Majeed Khwaja and Al-Haj Obaidur Rahman Khan Sherwani are among the prominent figures who were closely associated with and contributed to the establishment and progress of this centre of learning.

AMU City High School is the only School maintained by the AMU which imparts education through English, Urdu and Hindi medium from Classes VI to X. It aims at providing excellent, reformative and modern education to the boys without any prejudice to caste and religion. It also provides opportunity for an all-round development of personality of the students. The School has well maintained spacious Library, well equipped Science Laboratories and Computer Labs. The School also provides an Indoor/Outdoor games/sports facilities where students also get an opportunity to excel in the field of extra curricular activities. Students are also encouraged to opt Tailoring, Agriculture/Horticulture as an optional subjects which will than in their future life.

School Uniform

School Uniform for classes VI to X is full Sleeve Shirt  for winter and full / half sleeve for summer (colour and designed as approved by the School), Steel Grey Trousers, Blue Socks, Black Shoes and Navy Blue plain Pullover/Navy Blue Blazer. (Tie and Belt will be provided by the school)

Admission

The School offers admission in Class VI (English, Hindi and Urdu media) and in Class IX (only English medium).

Fee Structure

Following are the annual fee for session 2010-2011. Which may be reviewed by the School administration.

Class VI                                   Rs. 990/-

Class IX                                   Rs. 1450/-

The fee is charged in two equal instalments in (July and January). Students from (Class VI to VIII) who opt Computer Science as an additional subject have to pay Rs. 450/- per annum in one instalment in August/September.

House System

The house system develops a competitive sprit among students which is important for their overall personality development. The students are divided into five house viz Sir Syed House, Aftab House, Azad House, Nehru House and Tufail House.
